4th of July Fun!

Hunter and I were so thrilled to have Daddy home for the 4th of July weekend! We spent some great time together as a family up at Hess Lake. Chase treated me like a princess the whole weekend it was so nice, I cherished every minute of it!

Hunter got to experience sparklers for the first time and yes he did touch the hot part! We dunked his hand in the lake and the fishes kissed it better. He did tough anything hot the rest of the night! Saturday Night we were able to sit on the dock and see the Ring of Fire which I look forward to every year. The took an aerial shot this year which was very neat but there is something about seeing those red lights slowly pop up one by one all the way around the lake. We also were privileged to have a fireworks barge parked right in front of our cottage and Eric Theisen right next door (hes kind of a rock star when it come to fireworks) so we saw a really nice show. Hunter wasn't so crazy about the screaming kind he thought they were birdies crying but he enjoyed all the colors until he drifted off to dreamland.

We spent some time out on the water too. Hunter really enjoyed going tubing the faster the better! Chase decided to give in a go too and he hopped in the tube with Hunter. Unfortunately they hit a wave wrong and both wiped out. They both went under but Daddy grabbed Hunter right away. There were some tears shed but if you ask him about it now he will just tell you about the bubbles he saw in the water. When I saw them tip all I could think was thank goodness for swimming lessons!

Daddy also took Hunter for his first seadoo ride. Hunter wasn't too thrilled about it but maybe next time.
Hope you guys all enjoyed your Forth of July!

Cottage Fun!

We have been lucky enough to enjoy a few nice weekends at my Grandparents cottage so far this summer and we have enjoyed every minute of it! Hunter loves loves loves being with Grandpa and Grandma Holkeboer and to be able to spend the night with them is almost too much excitement for him! When I was around 10 or so my grandpa built a loft bedroom for me at the cottage. Hunter thinks this room is the great thing ever. He loves being able to climb the latter and he must tell everyone that he gets to sleep way up high!

Memorial Day weekend he got to do some blue gill fishing with Grandpa Abby, Uncle Mike, and Daddy. Hunter's spiderman fishing pole proved to catch the most fish time and time again!

And of course my parents and grandparents are Detroit Tigers fans so the weekends would not be complete with out a little baseball.

I think they are discussing who to splash next!

Me and You going Fishing

Hunter is growing up way to fast and we are constantly amazed at the new things he can do and the wacky ideas he comes up with. One of his first this past week was being able to go fishing with Dad all by himself! Chase told him in the morning before we left for the sitters that they were going fishing in the boat. Hunter who doesn't understand time was very very upset when I put him in my car without a fishing pole or a life jacket to go to the sitters. He was sure that he was going fishing now! Of course me being forgetful as always forgot to pack his blanket. So I dropped him off with must protesting and went to retrieve the blanket. When I came back with the blanket you should have seen his face light up! The first words out of his mouth were "OH MOM FISHING TIME NOW!" I hated being the bad guy and telling him no Mom needs to go to work and so does Dad we can go fishing after nap time. Once more I had to leave him in a puddle of tears. But in the end it was worth it because when I finally did pick him up at 5:30 he still remembered that he was going fishing! As soon as I got him out of the car he grabbed his life jacket and pole and waited right next to the boat. Forget eating dinner he was going fishing. He was so excited he refused to take his life jacket off to be put in the car seat.

The boys had a blast together! They had a few moments of panic when Hunter sat on the gas line and disconnected it so the boat wouldn't start. I received a panic call from dad "Were a mile out in Lake Michigan I can't get my boat to start... oh $hit I need to go ,Hunter no, don't throw that" end of call. I should have been worried but I laughed instead they would figure it out. And they did. They didn't catch any fish but the memories are priceless. Clearly someone had a good time.
Now Daddy thinks he needs a bigger boat so its "safer" for the two of them. Hmm....

Hunter Learns a New Word

Hunter learned a new word from Daddy recently! His first swear word, Im so (not) Proud!! He now has multiple words to use to tell us when he has to go number 2!
Although not funny I will admit we laugh pretty hard and it is pretty darn cute! Lets just hope this word doesn't slip out in front of the grandparents or during church....

Fall Fun!

These pictures were just rotting in my camera much like the pumpkin on my front step. Even though Hunter was sick we did manage to have a fun halloween!

Hunter was a little duck! We entered it him in the costume contest for the Zeeland Pumpkin fest and he recieved second place! An adroable cup cake beat him out. I had so much fun making his costume and since he only wore it for pictures this year I am hoping it will fit again next year.

Daddy carved Hunter a Mickey Mouse Pumpkin that Hunter absolutly loved. He was so much into the carving and pulling out the pumpkin seeds though. Don't you just love the power tools!

Hunter did love painting his pumpkin this year! Last year he cried when we tried to get him anywhere near a pumpkin.

A BIG THANKS to Uncle Matt and the Fruit and Veggie Ranch for bringing Hunter some pumpkins!

What are we up to today?

Well lets see my Dad had a heart attack on the 25th while in North Dakota and on the 28th Hunter and I discovered we had H1N1, All while Chase was in Missouri Hunting. That pretty much mad it the worst weekend ever! Chase being the best husband in the world cut his hunting trip short and came home that friday just in case we were going to need to fly out to ND. It was so nice to have him home to help me through it all. If you don't know already my Dad is my best friend and even though I knew he most likey would have had a heart attack at some point it was still a shock and a big one at that. It was horrible not being there and having to play telephone tag to find out whats going on. Thankfully my Dad is back home now. His arteries were 90% blocked and he had 4 stints put in. As long as he sticks to therapy and his new diet he should make a full recovery!
The Swine flu although its not the worst thing ever it wasn't fun. (FYI its not so much throwing up nasty flu as it is really bad cold symptoms with a fever, so stay home with a cold and wash your hands!) All three of us were home and stuck in the house for a whole week. Were back to work and Linda's now though. Hunter was left with that nasty rattle in his chest so we are continuing on with breathing treatments 4 times a day...

My fear is that his breathing is going to get worse or he will catch something else on top of it and end up with pheumonia. So for now we are avoiding public places and no sunday school for Hunter. We go back to the doctor next week.
On a brighter note Chase just finished his second to last class, only five more weeks to go!!! We are so proud of how hard he works. He truly is an amazing husband and father.

Watch what you say!

No longer is it cool for Hunter to call my husband daddy. Hunter now calls him Chase! What a little thinker!

It was 7:30 this morning and I still hadn't heard Chase's alarm go off so I yelled up the stairs "CHASE get out of bed now its 7:30" Hunter ran to the bottom of the stairs and yelled Chase, Chase. I brought him upstairs and he continued to call his daddy Chase!

I guess this means we need to watch what we say now!

Just Like Daddy

Daddy is on layoff for the next 3 weeks so he gets to spend quality time witht the little man. He sent me this picture while I was at work. Now I wonder if they are spending too much time together...
