Well I knew it was only a matter of time before Hunter got sick again. It had been a month since our Swine flu bout I thought he was safe to return back to sunday school but I guess not. The sniffles started friday night, green mucus ozzed from his nose all day saturday and sunday. Sunday afternoon I noticed his breathing sounded like Skids (Chase's old fat cat), sunday night as I watched him try to sleep I could see how much his lungs were struggling. They got us in to the doctor right away monday morning. Hunter who normally loves the doctor (yes I have a strange kid) decided instead of running all over and looking at the fun paintings on the way to just lay on mommy and barley keep his eyes open. I expected to go in get his weight checked and ears and throat checked and then to leave with a nebuliser with instructions to use 4 times a day. This was not so. They decided that he needed x-rays! He did so good for the x-ray tech!! While we waited for the x-rays to come back Hunter was given a treatment of Albuterol through the nebuliser. They didn't have a fishy mask like we do at home, Hunter was less then pleased but didn't have much energy to resist it. The x-rays came back and it turns out the little man has Pneumonia. It was decided this was something we could handle at home so they sent us on our way with an antibiotic, a nebuliser, some Albuterol and some Pulmicort. We nned to go back to the doctor in 2 weeks but it sounds like the Pulmicort will need to be taken daily through March.
After several breathing treatments a dose of antibiotics and a 3.5 hour nap ( the most consecutive sleep in 3 days!!) Hunter felt like almost a million bucks. At least he was smiling and asking to play instead of just wanting to be held. I hope this up hill trend continues for him. After all he is going to be a Bell Ringer in Kelsey and Brandon's Wedding on Saturday!
Say a quick prayer that he continues to heel!
And because he asked so nicely or rather got his coat and hat and stood by the door yelling for Jon and Anthony he is spending the day snuggling with Jon, Linda, and Anthony while mama struggles to get through the work day.
